NEW PATCH

{above} 71 nuggets from hawks nest, {below} total over 3 ounces,
no need to put beer in the fridge as the frosts have arrived
 omletts for dinner,
 emus
G,day all, well after a couple of weeks i only got 3 nuggets and with the weather starting to turn bad i went back to laverton as after heavy rain they close the roads and you can get stuck out bush, after 2 days in the van park i decided to camp out at a gold field close to town only 20 ks away, i found a good spot to camp and went detecting in the afternoon and found 2 nuggets, the next morning i started to chain the area which is puting a rope tied to my belt about 150 cm long with a lenth of chain 30 cm long tied to the end of the rope and this is draged along behind me and it leaves a line in the dirt and you can see where u have walked, i dug 14 nuggets that day followed by 13 nuggets the next then my largest haul ever in one day 19 nuggets then 7 then 6 then 3 then 2 then 4 then 1 yeaterday morning, total for the 10 days is 71 nuggets and total weight 28.3 grams with the largest 2.7 grams which is the shape of an L, i promised louise a nugget to put on a necklace for her 21st and i couldnt believe i would find one in the shape of an L, my gold tally for the trip so far is 176 nuggets weighing over 3 ounces. I had a run in with 4 emus which scared the hell out of me as at the time i was kneeking down digging and i looked up and they were staring down at me from about 5 metres away, from where i was sitting they looked about 10 feet tall and i jumped up and they walked away i got a pic of them but i couldnt get close to them again. On monday im heading back to this spot again as i think i can get more gold and it would be nice to find one about an ounce but the patch that i found is next to the main track and people are sure to see all the freshly dug soil and stop to detect so im keen to get back,.Im in leonora van park and will refuel, do some washing, buy more food and HAVE A SHOWER, you can wash everyday out bush but you cant beat a long hot shower. im starting to do more cooking on the open fire to save gas, you have to watch that no lizards or bugs jump out of the wood into your pot or pan which has happened, a large lizard jumped out of a log just missing my diiner and ive found a grasshopper in my coffie which must have got in my kettle. This new patch of gold is in a gold field called Hawks nest and is sth west of laverton. catchas later,    Stu.

  1. Lucky Louie Stu, what are the odds of finding an M? Don't bet your gold on it! Check the P.O. I've sent you a small item. Keep up the good work and hopefully find that elusive big one, luv Mum

  4. Hi Stu, the guys at work are following your progress as well, and read your blog everyweek and one of them reckons that they aren't nuggets you are getting they are chips, he reckons a nugget has to be lifted with two hands. Haha
