Wednesday 23 May 2012

Hi everyone, today wednesday 23rd i went down to the mechanics to see if the geni was put back together but it wasnt and mechanic said he might not have time until friday or even monday to work on it so i said ill do it and gathered all parts up and nuts and bolts and put them into my car, he charged me $120 and that was fine by me, got back to the c/park and started working puting it back together when i heard somthing lose rattling around in the sump, pulled it apart and one of those lugs that align engines and the generator up was sitting in the oil, i didnt put it there, put it back in place and started piecing it together, got to the stage where the generator goes on i use the wrong size tool and took the skin off the top of a knuckle on my right hand, i looked at it and thought this is gunna hurt, i went to the tiolets to wash it and my hands were covered with oil and grease but there was no way i was gunna scrub the area so i just put on a band aid and wraped it in paper towel, after puting it back together i was short 2 nuts that go on the coweling at the back of the generator and will see if there at the mechanics tomorrow, richards mechanic at work thinks the screw came from the buttifly in the carby so ill check that out tomorrow and the tapits will need adjusting.                                       [below] in bits,

Tuesday 22 May 2012

Hi everyone, i went to the mechanics this morning to see how the generator was and he had it in pieces so i asked him what was the problem with it and he showed me a screw which had embeded in the top of the piston, he said the only way it could have got there is through the spark plug hole when it was being changed and droped down through there, well the only person to change the plug was the mechanic in shepparton as they are the only ones to have serviced the generator, ive never taken out the plug [as far as i can remember] or done any service on it except change the oil, they are lucky im 3,000 ks away but im still going to ring them and give em some, i pick the geni up tomorrow and then one more night here in laverton c/park then im off to yerilla an old mining town sth west of here about 130 odd ks away, ive got good info on a lease which is owned by some inexperienced prospectors, what you do when you have a lease is that you detect the area then scape the top 6 inches off with a dozer or grader then detect again and keep doing this until you hit bedrock or the gold runs out, these fellows did that but they went the wrong direction and missed the main gold bearing ground, ive got gps coordinates of the spot and plan to be there thursday arvo, its not to far from some good free camping grounds and leonora is only 60 odd ks away so ill stock up on supplies on the way there, they have a gallery here with some great indiginous paintings from $50 to over $1,000 and somtimes they walk through the c/van park floggin some paintings alot cheaper, when they come through again ill have a look at them as they need to be signed and they usually have the story on the back, seeyas later, Stu

102 nuggets, 65grams
laverton hospital, it has 8 beds and has 8 nurses but no doctor.
laverton police station, u would love it monica
dr charles laver who rode his bicycle 450ks from coolgardie to prospect for gold and helped develop the laverton hospital, the town is named after him.
the local pub where the local indiginous hang out front.
the roundabout with fake grass, and below is looking up main street towards the roundabout.
pub and cop shop on the right and post office and centrlink on the left.
g,day all, im back at laverton a couple of days earlier as my generator stoped and the fridge uses up the batteries very quick, i pulled the cover off the valves and the inlet valve didnt move when i turned the motor over so it needs a mechanic so ive booked into the van park for a week. i met the brumby again and he followed me back to my camp as i was about a kilometre away from camp and in open country and thought it best to head back as it was getting dark as well, he stood about 30 metres away behind some bushes and just stared at me checking everything out then he came out in front of the bushes and walked past and across to some trees where he dissapeared, i had some carrots and apples but didnt think of giving him any but i will remember next time, ive named him trigger but i cant remember whose horse in the movies had that name.
I went for a hike up to the nearest hill and took some pics and the land just goes on forever in all directions and on the way up i ran into a goanna whose in one of the pics, theres been a few storms this week  and a fantastic rainbow which was so big i couldnt get it all in one photo.

red wine and toasted ham & cheese s/w for diner, no fridge = no cold beer,
I found only 7 nuggets this week but it rained alot and i think ive cleaned up this patch of gold, i ended up with 102 nuggets weighing in at 65.05 grams or 2 ounces 2.85 grams which im happy about, next weekend its time to go prospecting for another patch or maybe just one big nugget as somtimes that is how it is, hope ya like the pics, Stu.

Friday 11 May 2012

g,day all, tried hard all week to get to 100 nuggets and 2 ounces of gold but failed by 5 nuggets and 2 grams, total gold is 95 nuggets and 60.37 grams, still a great effort and ill be back there sunday arvo as i think theres still some good ground id like to cover. if you want you can look on google earth and see where i found the gold, [ text me and ill give ya lat & long ] the nights are getting colder as we get the east winds which blow off the deserts which get very cold at night and fire season is also over and time to start having campfires and toasted spagetti s/w on the fire, there are plenty of creek crossings and these are mostly dry except for one which had water running but i got through it ok, normally they close the road but there must have been just a local downpoor so it wasnt to deep, there are some great looking gum trees around these creeks and thats the only place they grow, after one or two days next week at my patch i intend to move about 5 ks east to another abandoned gold mine and give that a go and the track in looks like no one has been down there for a long time, there is also a hill nearby which i intend to climb and take some pics and just have a look around, i will be in town until sunday morning.

 crazy brumby.
lizard, check out his long tail.
sunrise, ive been up before sunrise every morning.

crazy horse

g,day all, just got back in town only to recieve the rotten news about jacko, sounds like his opp was good and it looks like a bit of a road to recovery, thinking of you all back home,
well ive driven all the way back to leonora as the food and fuel is alot cheaper than laverton and the caravan park much better and cheaper too.
ive had some fantastic sunrises as you can see in the pics but not so sunsets, the gold has kept comming all week and i have dug up my largest nugget ever which went 6.2 grams, not a monster but still hope for that another day, total gold nuggets came to 82 nuggets weighing 52.38 grams.
friday morning was the only day i didnt get any so im thinking that i might have got it all in this area but ill spend 2 or 3 days next week going over the area more and if nothing more turns up ill try new ground but they tell me never leave ground while your still digging them up.
One day i had my head down concentrating on detecting when i heard a funny noise but it took a few seconds for it to sink in, i looked around and about 70 metres away was a wild brumby, he was snorting and kicking up dust and just acting crazy while staring straight at me, i put the detector down and ran at him waving my arms and yelling but he didnt flinch then he just kicked up more dust and it was obvious i was tresspassing according to him, i picked up a few rocks and threw them his way but that realy pissed him off and charged about 10 metres towards me and it was about then i shit myself, a quick look around and theres no trees i could climb as you can see from the pic and the car was about 200 metres away but i decided to make for the car and slowly walked towards it after puting the detector in a tree about 5 foot off the ground, when i got to the car and with his eyes never leaving me i got the .22 out and thought now whos gunna be boss, i got back to where i was stading before and fired a shot to his right in the trees and thats when i realy upset him, he started running up and down kicking the in the air dust flying and i put another shot to his left and after 4 shots all up he decided to go back the way he came but he wasnt impressed, the rest of the day i was waitin for him to come running out of the scrub at me but didnt see him again, about an hour after he left i looked up across the clearing where the brumby went and i see a bloke swinging a detector, WHAT THE, where the hell did he come from, i went over to say g,day and his name was Wes and hes with a mate from perth that are camped about 3 ks away, he said he climbed a hill and seen my car and wandered over, they wernt getting any gold and i told them i had found just a few, the next day i met the manager of the cattle station that im on and he wanted to know if i had a dog as he was putting out baits as he said theres a few wild dogs here so now the .22 goes with me and the detector, hope yous like the pics, can anyone identify the lizard it has a very long tail with white hoops around it.
